BP-NP Mentoring ABC 2014

Before the busy school semester starts tomorrow, I would like to blog about Mentoring's ABC (Annual Bonding Camp) 2014 which took place from 16th - 18th October. I think this was one of the camps which I enjoyed the most so far because I kinda tried to open up myself and participated more actively in the games etc.

Day 1 - 16th October 2014, Thursday:
I think it was because Mag was with me in the same group, Day 1 didn't felt so awkward because I had someone I knew. Or was it because it was my 2nd year in mentoring and I knew most of the people? We had ice breakers, created our group's identity, designed our group's sigil, had station games and night walk!! For night walk, the station masters acted like ghost. The highlight of the night walk was when we entered a dark room and had to unlock like a safe deposit to retrieve a bracelet. Omg really liked the night walk and wished it was longer!

Our sigil!

Day 2 - 17th October 2014, Friday:
Went Chinese Garden for amazing race! I think the most proud moment for me of the day was being able to manipulate a piece of chip from my forehead to almost dropping it, and getting it to my mouth in just 1 try! HAHA

Due to the bad weather, we weren't able to complete the other stations but instead we took shelter at some huge pavilion.

Needed to take some photos with the nice scenery when the rain stopped for a bit, haha.

Some artistic shots of the rain.

Played double wacko, dodge ball, captain's ball, wet games and took group photos while waiting for the rain to stop before heading back to school!

Had games and performances at night!

Sunken Ships

Played card games, ate pizza and chitchatted till about 5:30am! Combined 2 beds and slept with Rachel, Syaf, Mag and Amaris LOL. The same people whom I slept with during last year's ABC except this year it's without Taiwen.

5 people squeezed on this bed HAHA

Day 3 - 18th October 2014, Saturday:
Slept at 5:40am and woke up at 7am (1hr+ of sleep)! Just had breakfast and break camp already ~ Went ice skating with a few other mentors after that. It was a really impromptu plan and people who knows me well will know that I don't really like impromptu stuffs. It was a super sudden decision to ice skate because the journey from school to JCube, I already had in mind to help the others look after their bags. But still, I joined them! :)

Monday 6 October 2014

I checked the calendar and it reminded that school is starting in exactly 2 weeks time, NOOOOOO ~ Since I'm kinda bored now I shall blog about the past 2 days.

4th October, Saturday:
As usual I woke up at 0745a.m to have breakfast and prepared for CCA. Besides 4 new mentors, there was only Syaf, Xinyi, Justin and myself. Thankfully I had Syaf with me to help manage the children! So after we had debrief (which made me gain more confidence), we went over to Tiong Bahru Plaza for lunch at Eighteen Chefs (our usual lunch place). You know how Eighteen Chefs plays songs as the background music? So after our meal, they started playing this birthday song which has a funny tune to it and it's kinda annoying cause it just keeps playing non-stop for like 1 minute plus, LOL. The next moment, the waiter came with this:

Totally didn't expect the mentors to surprise me cause my birthday was like over for 3 days, but still I appreciated it. :) After living for 18 years, I've came to understand that it doesn't matter how you
spend your birthday that matters (birthday party / eating at expensive restaurant etc). It'll be a bonus if you spend your birthday in a fancy way, but even if you don't, it's okay. Even though sometimes I may not be satisfied with what I have and so on, but I think I've learned to appreciate the smallest thing? Even though it may be a small note / birthday wish, people actually made the effort to do it, so BE HAPPY.

Headed home after lunch and my neighbour's grandson came to visit so as usual my mum and I had to bring him over to our house to play with him for a while, HAHA. He's 3 years old and he's so intelligent in the way he speaks!

Comparing our leg sizes haha

In the late afternoon, went to Clementi Mall with my mum to get my phone changed to Samsung Galaxy S5! Our queue number was coincidentally me and my bro's birth date (3029). And children nowadays are so addicted to like all these gadgets that I witnessed 4 boy playing games on the phones on display. One boy played for like super super long and his mum had to wait for him.. When we were queuing, he was playing. When we were getting the phone, he was playing. Even after we got my screen protector and phone case (as usual my favourite colour turquoise) and was about to leave, he was still playing..

I'm now a Samsung / Android user!

Oh and one thing I'm damn happy about is I can finally take good quality photos! My previous iPhone 4s camera had a crack so ya.. had to always trouble others to use their phone to take photos..

5th October, Sunday:
My Sundays are usually spent lazing around at home cause I'm generally super lazy. People who knows me well would know that I don't really go out unless there's a purpose (e.g. need to buy things). I don't really like to window shop (maybe sometimes only) unless I've something in mind to buy. But I was motivated to leave house to trim my eyebrows (because they are as thick as Crayon Shin Chan's) and get stuffs from Tiong Bahru Plaza. Then we headed to Jcube because my mum hasn't been there before and she wanted to see J Avenue. Normally I would want to rush home after I'm done with getting my stuffs but this time I thought I should just accompany her to do what she wants LOL (since she's always accompanying me). Had our late lunch at Pepper Lunch (our first time trying) and it was quite nice!!

Then we ended the day by slacking at my grandma's house before heading home. Wow, I think this must be the first Sunday that I did so many things, HAHA. Ok, BYE.

Thursday 2 October 2014

From 29th to 30th September, just 2 days. But I felt like so much has happened. Shall leave the negative stuffs aside and write about the happy stuffs.

29th September, Monday:
So the Sunken Ships girls surprised me with a huge birthday balloon and a cake at Jurong Point! Then we had our lunch at Pizza Hut and Tai Wen joined us after. After lunch, we walked around Jurong Point and got snacks for the mentees for Children's Day. Then we had dessert at Hee Kee Desserts. :)

Truffle Mushroom

Black Glutinous Rice with Ice Cream

First helium balloon!

So glad to have met this group of friends during Mentoring's orientation last year! They're part of the reason why I attend mentoring events / camps / sessions. (:

30th September 2014, Tuesday:
So after some stuffs happened in the afternoon,  went to Swensen's @ Clementi Mall to have late lunch. Didn't really had the mood / appetite to eat so I shared the Salmon 'N' Mushroom Pasta with my mum.

Fish & Chips

Spicy Seafood Pasta with Grilled Scallops

After lunch, we walked around for a bit before my parents fetched me to Bukit Timah Plaza to meet Sujun, Huiting, Stephanie, Laurel and Ziying. They surprised me with a rainbow cake and a gift (which they put in a lot a lot of effort) at some staircase of the mall. :) After that, we had dinner at Saizeriya (some Italian Restaurant) and caught up with one another. Not sure about the how the other dishes tasted cause I only ordered Chicken Gratin ($4.90). The food there is reasonably priced or should I say cheap? I think I would wanna go back there to eat again and order a lot more food HAHA.

Favourite colour of the cake!

So pretty!!!

So thankful to have them as classmates and friends that I can speak comfortably to! Really appreciate these 2 group of friends!! :) And now that I'm finally 18, I hope that I can be more mature, everything will go smoothly and everybody happy & healthy!
